Record Joiner (11/123)

Hi friends!
More records, I know. But they are cool!
So this joiner looks kinda weird, no need to tell me. Brian's record shop has two main hallways, here I am standing on a stool taking this while looking around. That's why there are two (what seem to be close up) pictures on the right and left side. But really, that's how it looks. I actually find it really interesting though, because of the two close up photos on the sides and the depth looking down the hall into more record land.
Some people say that you need a focal point in a photo. Yeah, at times I agree but other times, if your eyes move over the photo and around and everything connects, there isn't really a problem is there? You can then take in all the elements of the photo, all the details, without focusing on one particular spot. Some may argue that doesn't make a very interesting photo though, if it doesn't have an actual topic of concentration. But whatever, if it's the right photo, it can be really interesting.
Anyway, this might be a reflection of how some of my summer photos may go because I really like joiner's. They are so interesting, the way a bunch of small photos can just come together to create something big and vast and extensive that just blows up a little in your mind and you can't look away.
Well, that's how I feel when looking at them.

TTYL,

Morgan

PS. Not that I don't love talking AT you guys, but if you ever feel like you want to share your thoughts on the pictures, the ideas or creations behind them, feel free to comment. At the bottom of the post it should say "comments" click that, then a text box should appear and write whatever your heart desires and click "post" and voila!

Phaedra & I (10/123)

Hi Friends!
This is Phaedra and I. We are hanging out as I type, actually.
You can't really see me in this actually, but I think its super cute. This was taken with webcam by the way, that's why quality isn't as great as it could be, but I still like it.
Today was a pretty good 'friend day.' I saw Owen, then Kier, now Phaedra.
Watched some Glee, had some White Mountain down by the waterfront and a heart to heart with Kier, and was going to watch 'PS I love you' and eat ice cream with Phae but we decided not to be so depressing. But we still had ice cream.
Overall, really good day. Weather was beautiful, compared to past couple days.
I hope you all enjoy the photo. It's cute and simple. But there's a long lasting friendship with this photo.

Talk to you tomorrow!

Happy Mothers Day! (9/123)

Hi Friends!
Happy Mothers Day!! So...yesterday kinda didn't post a photo. Woops! I worked 6-2 then hung out with Frances who I haven't seen in ages and we went to the drive-in and I didn't get home until 12:11am. 11 minutes too late. So I am posting two photos today.
It's Mothers day! Who loves their momma? I love mine. Lots. She's pretty darn awesome.
I worked today which was exciting (not really). Pretty boring. It was so cold and gross out so we weren't that busy. But yesterday, I went to the market and got some roses then today after work picked up some goodies for dessert. Aren't I a good daughter?
Below is a picture of me and my momma from long time ago. It is cute yes? We are bonding and picking yummy things from a tree. I am doing a great job, as you can see... that's a joke. Mostly I am smiling for the camera. Did I tell you I could have been a child model? Yes, I am that cute.
I will leave you with this cute picture, talk to you tomorrow!

Mocktails! (7/123)

Hi Friends!
Today was mocktail friday, in case you didn't know. Phaedra, Emma and I celebrated in style.
Don't these look DELICIOUS? They are.
Strawberry, ice, lemonade & sugar amazingness.
We were on my back porch drinking these yummies and playing the "badass girl's poker." Which is ten times better than normal poker, in case you were wondering.
Anyway, the back porch was pretty fab for a couple hours then it got kinda cold/was cold in the first place so we moved inside and played 'where in the world is Carmen Sandiego?'
If you've ever seen the show as a little kid you'd know Carmen Sandiego is pretty darn awesome. Did you know she stole the Taj Mahal AND the equator? Didn't think it could be done? Me neither. But that Carmen fools us every time. So we tried to restore national monuments for a couple hours but then it got boring and very extensive so... we kinda gave up on the world. Woops. Apparently we won't be getting that equator back any time soon.
Anyway, hope you like the picture. It is very spring-summery. I am thinking fruity drinks will dictate my summer. Also, I'm thinking photographing food and drinks is super fun! What do you think?

Talk to you tomorrow!

Emma (6/123)

Hi friends!
This is Emma. We went on an adventure today! We walked on over to Polson Park and found this saucer like swing thing. It was fun except for the whole starting to swing part, which I seemed to be disabled with. Seriously, it's hard. My feet couldn't even touch the rocks on the ground to push.
So this photo was taken of Emma, as previously said. I decided not to do flash because I actually like the blurryness of this photo. It adds motion and confusion to the photo. Which we all experience when swinging, yes? You can't really get a grasp on anything because you are moving fast.
I love swings by the way. There is so much freedom and it just brings me back to my childhood. Thoughts of youth, laughter and fun come flooding back. Everyone has at least one thing in their life that allows them to flash back to childhood.
Anyway, today was fun, and Emma and I are playing a Wii game tonight (Just Dance) which makes you dance (kinda like DDR) and if you don't do it correctly they boo you. As in boo you off and it says Game Over in large words and you feel massive amount of failure.
Sounds like fun! Seeing as I am probably going to fail since I suck at any kinds of video games because my parents forbade them when I was little (which I thank them for now).

Well, I'm gonna go dance my little heart out now and try not to fail.
Talk to you tomorrow!

Flowers (5/123)

Hi Friends!
It is a beautiful day! Sad to say I've actually mostly been inside all day, cleaning. Again. But now things are cleaner (obviously) and so that makes me happy!
This was taken down at city park at the Sir John A. Macdonald statue. They are red flowers. So pretty.
Fun fact: I like flowers. Particularly daisy's and lily's.

Talk to you tomorrow!

Cake! (4/123)

Hi friends!
Today is my sisters, Nicola, birthday! She is 23. Me and my moma made this for her. It's a sponge cake with strawberries, blueberries, kiwi and melon with whipped cream. Yummy, yes?
There really is no way this cake will not taste good.
The thing I love about Birthdays and get togethers with my family is how hilarious they are. My brother brings the funny boy-ish comments and talk about economics, my sister the witty (normally related to one of the fam movies), my mom then laughs.... and laughs some more, then we are all laughing at her for laughing in the first place, and my dad the mumbles and common sense of the family, and then I try to get a word in edgewise but you pretty much have to stop both Nicola and Julian talking before you can say anything, otherwise you are yelling over their voices and that just gets loud and no one knows who is saying what. Our family works so well together though, it's pretty amazing. Obviously, we get annoyed at times but we got eachothers back. Mostly it's because we all have zodiac signs that work well together. Not gonna lie.
So today's a family day! It will be fun. And added fun because of that scrumptious cake.

Well, have fun salivating over that picture. I'll let you know how it tastes.

Records (3/123)

Hi friends!
I'm posting in the last minutes of May 3rd, as I have had a busy day.
This is from a week ago and I just got the prints back (this is film B&W) because it takes so long to develop black and white.
This is Brian's Record Option on Princess St. I've only really been in there a couple times, to take this photo and to buy a ticket for a concert, but it's soooo cool. Minus the fact that there are so many records, so little space and they are all in dissaray, i love it. It's fun and messy, like me!
With this photo you see the back ground a little, more tapes, more records, some 44s. But seriously, if you've never been, go there. I swear even though the place is a mess, the guy who owns it probably knows exactly where everything is.
Talk to you soon, I'm beat.

Time lapse - Toronto Subway (2/123)

Hi friends!
This is kind of an older photo but I think it will be useful for you to know that I LOVE time lapse shots. They are so cool.
This is of the Toronto subway, I took it when I was visiting my friend Amy.
Personally, I think it's really cool mostly because I just really like the movement of the train. When seeing it again I can hear the subway noise in my head and imagine the previous moments like they are occuring now.
This is just one of two photos I took. This one being the first and the second one happened a second or two after taking this one. I like this one better though because of the lights at the top of the subway train.
You can see them both on top of eachother if you click on this link to my flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/bright-coloured-frames/

Thanks for reading!
Talk to you tomorrow,
Morgan

A Magnolia Spring (1/123)

Hi Friends!
It's May already! Can you believe it? I don't know if I can, 1st year went by way too fast.
So here is my first post, after a rainy 1st of May, this is a snap of our Magnolia tree which resides right outside and to the left of our house. It seems to be fading away, as you can see by the petals in the background.
This is what I love about our April-May switch of months. This tree is just so blossoming, pink and overall happy (if you can use such an adjective to describe a tree) that its hard not to be happy hearing the Spring bells chiming in the distance.
Though this photo may not win a photo award of any such or even get noticed past this blog, some times that is good. I've been doing some reflection lately over what makes a good photo. And maybe it doesn't take too much. Maybe a winning photo really should only qualify as something that even stimulates some sort of reaction in even one person.
While taking photographs, at times I feel pressured (not by others, by myself) to take the most wonderful picture. To make people proud of me. To have people point me out and say, she's a really great photographer.
But maybe that isn't what I should be striving for. Obviously I'd love for all my photos to be fabulous, but that of course isn't always the case. We all do great photos, we all do shitty photos. I think we put too much pressure on ourselves to do those great photos.
My point here is, seeing as this is the first of one hundred and twenty three photos I have dedicated and promised this summer, not all of them will be amazing, but maybe that's part of the ride. If I can stimulate anything in you, the reader (whom ever you may be), then my job and my goal here is done.
On that note I hope you enjoy the rest of your May 1st and I will see you tomorrow!
